Monthly Archives: August 2010There are times when it is helpful to look back. Particularly when you are going through a deployment, no matter where you are in the process, it can be helpful to stop and take stock of what you have accomplished. Our deployment is coming to an end, not close enough to start shaving my legs… I just received gift cards from Sears, which is holding a Salute to Heroes Sale this Saturday! I can give away 2 $25 Sears gift cards to 2 lucky readers – just comment on this post and let me know what you would treat yourself or your favorite “local hero” to if you won the… What an awesome thing of you, and Sears! I'm not sure if the giftcards can be used at the portrait studios, but I'd love to get new pictures of our two boys taken (our youngest just turned a yr) so I could send my husband some great new pics!! If not, then I'd use it to buy him some new grilling things, since I know he loves to grill and is really missing not being able to cook/grill since he's currently deployed! If I win a Sears I would put it towards my husband a new “bedding set”. He has just left for his 5th deployment and will be needing something once he figures out what his sleeping arrangements will be. Hopefully he will at least get a bunk so we can get him a cute lil college twin set or something!! LOL My husband has been a soldier in the Army for 24 yrs and if I won this card I would buy him some golf accessories because golfing is his way of relaxing after a very long, stressful day of work. Thank you Sears for this opportunity! I would love to be a winner of the gift cards. Since my husband deployed I havent really had any “me” time so its been hard with our 2 children. I could really use them to buy a dress for my husbands homecoming. I love my soldier and if won i would let him have the card to do with what he would like. Just pcsing to a new station we have not been able to do much shopping and i know he would appreciate it and love it. Plus i know he has been after some new tools.lol. I would buy a new watch for my “HERO” his last one bit the dust on his most recent deployment. He needs it to be on time for our up coming nuptials. LOL I think I would get a new game! My soldier returned from deployment this summer and we do a family game night every Friday! A new game would be great for family time! I would certainly spend this on my hero who is getting back from his first deployment here very soon. Our four boys miss their dad so much and he has missed so much over this past year. We are so very excited to have our hero home from Afghanistan!! Hi, my Hero just got home from Iraq 2 weeks ago!! I would treat him to some new casual clothes, as a reprieve from the constant ACU's & PT clothes. I think it is great that there is so much support for the troops and their families. We appreciate all the support we can get! My family is about to move into on-post housing so we would treat ourselves to new home decor. Sears is always having great sales so we know we would find great deals! Thank you so much! I would buy a video camera for the computer hook up. we just PCSed to hawaii and have two young children (14 months and 2.5 years). our son has a medical condition that requires weekly infusions at home. being able for him to see his popo and grandma would help tremendously while we do his treatment. not to mention being able to see my mom and talk to her when i am going through things that only another mom can understand I would use the gift card to buy my husband who is in Afghanistan a good blanket before the winter comes My husband is deployed so we would def be sending him some goodies in a care package with this gift card Is it bad that I would buy parts and make him fix the lawnmower before he leaves for 400 days? We just got our first ever brand new bed (yay!) and I know he would be thrilled to have some new sheets for it Candace I Would buy our son some clothes for prek. I need some clothes too but our son comes first. If we win a gift certificate we probably would save it to use on our upcoming PCS move. To buy the usual curtains and things sense everyhouse is differant and money is tight when we first arrive. I know this sounds really corny but I really just want to have a date with my husband… honestly just go to get some ice cream, hold hands and talk. Although my hero married me 19 years ago on August 31st, it is my 4 FRG leaders who are the heroes making things happen back here for the families so that the soldiers have peace of mind that their loved ones are being taken care of. I would use the giftcard toward a snow-blower. With two back-to-back blizzards this winter, a deployed hubby, and a pregnant me…things were a little rough.
