On a recent Saturday morning, I decided it would be a nice little adventure for the kids and I to take the shuttle to post. We live in Germany so twice a day they have a shuttle come out to our neighborhood to shuttle people to the main post. Everything was going great and fine and the kids were loving riding in this big red shuttle van when our 6yr old starts to ask me questions about the shuttle driver. The man was nice and he had long hair in a ponytail as well as earrings. This is how the conversation went:
SON: “Mommy, that man is wearing earrings”
ME: “Yes, in some cultures men wear earrings as well as women.”
*insert a silent moment with me mentally trying to will my son not to say anything embarrassing*
SON: “Mommy, that man looks like a girl”
*insert facepalm here*
It was a funny moment but oh the joys of parenting! Have you ever had an awkward moment in public thanks to your child?
