For October 2012′s newsletter, just click HERE!
Our downloadable newsletters are in a printable format in order that you may distribute–easily–to your spouse clubs, family groups, your chain of command and concern, and others within your Army Wife Network.
They are two-sided, single sheets, which offer the best resources, URLs, and articles we gather each month. They are created and copyrighted by Army Wife Network, but they are YOURS to personalize and circulate. There are small editable regions for you to update your local network on calendar events and contact data. You can brand it with your name as subtext to the Army Wife Network name.
Send the issues home with the service member, post them on unit bulletin boards, email them to your distro list, or post them to your Web site. Tell us the ways you’ve found best to get the word out. We can share that as a “hot tip” in our next newsletter.
Welcome to October, Army families!
I wish I could tell you that there was a chill in the air – but we’re stationed at Fort Sill, OK so it’s currently 96 degrees. Don’t ask. I have no idea. Regardless, I am dragging out the fall décor and pumpkins galore. This time of year is my FAVORITE! It starts the whole trilogy of fabulousness that is Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. I love everything fall –the food, the smells, the celebrations! So much to see, do, and create!
Two things my family does EVERY October (gosh I will miss my soldier this year) are pumpkin patches and corn mazes.
Pumpkin Patches – Visit http://www.pumpkinpatchesandmore.org/index.php#states to find a pumpkin patch near you! Don’t forget, medium-sized, fully orange pumpkins are the best for carving.
Corn Mazes – Fall brings us a bounty of corn mazes that are available for adults and children alike. Some corn mazes are open all day and into the night, allowing younger kids to go through in daylight and explore a large maze. Visit http://www.pumpkinpatchesandmore.org/index.php#states to find one in your area. Many corn mazes have other activities for families, like ring toss games, pumpkin painting and snacks.
We also love to do up a giant Halloween party! Last year we did it with our neighborhood, this year we are doing it with our unit.
If you’re away from your soldier this Halloween be sure to pack up a scary package. We have all sorts of ideas for you at AWN. To surprise your “battle buddy” check out our BOO! and secretly deliver a surprise.
We asked our 43,000+ Facebook fans what they had planned for their Halloween costumes – Let us know what you’re going to be. http://www.facebook.com/ArmyWifeNetwork/posts/10151082484557333
