 Five years ago we received orders to report back – for the third time – to Fort Sill/Lawton, OK. I will be the first to admit that Ft Sill is not on my list of highly sought after assignments. However, to us it’s six hours from home and family. We lucked into post housing -historical… I feel you! We have been stationed here at Maxwell AFB twice now and after trying for 3 years to get orders we’re finally getting to PCS late this summer! Getting ready to jump off the cliff of the comfort zone of what we’ve known as ‘life’ for the past 4.5 years and head back overseas into the great unknown, excited but hanging on tight for the wild ride I used to work in Denton, TX and love the area! There’s some great folks in and around Denton. You’re close enough to Dallas and Fort Worth that it’s worth making a day trip, or feeling like you’re “getting away” for a weekend. But, it’s also far enough away that you’re out of the city mindset. You’ve lived at Hood, so you’re not surprised by the Texas summers. Not sure how the wild weather was at Hood, but Denton county always seems to be on Mother Nature’s “wild ride of the night” list. *LOL* Got a NOAA weather radio? Get one! You’ll use it often. I wish you luck on your move, and I hope you love Denton. OH! Get some tickets to the UNT football games. Folks I worked with said they were well worth the outing. Enjoy!  Earlier last year a few “bright lights” in my world showed me appreciation by nominating me for Military Spouse Magazine’s 2013 Military Spouse of the Year award. It was a pleasant surprise to read their words and realize how much I meant to each of them. Who doesn’t like to feel appreciated and loved? Being… Thanks Tara. You captured our “family” and didn’t even share too many of our dirty little secrets! (The editor in me wants to ask: are you sure your profile links are correct? Want me to fix them?” exactly… Aw, shucks! She is so right. You are a clown, and that’s what made/makes me love you. I fixed them! <3 Love ya Tara! Thank You and Star for Army Wife Network! You gave me a home and a place to make my vice heard. I too would not be where I am today had it not been for me entering a contest back in 2010, that would change my life forever! Love my AWN Family! And now the world knows. Well, at least tem Army community. I am pretty awesome, aren’t I? Nice you’ve figured that one out so young.  I’ve had many discussions lately with military spouses that go a little something like this, “Tara I’m just so pissed because I want my life and not the Army to come first for a change.” My response is simple, “what military spouse hasn’t thought that in their lifetime?” I remember watching an episode of Lifetime…  The presents are all unwrapped and the extended families have all gone home. Christmas is over. What in the heck am I going to do with all of this STUFF?!?!?! I know I am not the only one who has one of those family members who gets you what they have deemed “just the perfect”… |
