It seems crazy to remember…

It seems crazy to remember it was this time of year when my Sailor ran off to play with the Army in Afghanistan. He left just before the trees were changing color, and the weather was turning cooler. I remember thinking he would miss this beautiful time of year. Fall is my favorite time of year, a time when I like to stay closer to home and enjoy snuggling under warm blankets and start the art of making hot cocoa on a regular basis.

I remember when he told me he had a t-shirt for me that said “NARMY” on it. (the N is for Navy) I thought it was hilarious and at a time when laughs were not easily happening it was a much needed happy moment.

I know that tonight as little ones are walking the streets trick or treating or attending fall festivals, there will be many dads (and moms) who will be deployed this cool fall evening and miss the giggles and “BOO’s” and all that candy.

I just wanted to take a moment from the business of today to say how thankful I am there are deployed troops out there, boot on ground protecting our freedoms while we can be back here enjoying the comforts of home.

If you are taking your kids out on your own tonight, a big warm hug to you. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

I won't forget today, I just dropped my fiance at the airport, on his way overseas…He'll miss Christmas and New Year's, our first together. On the other hand, we're making beautiful plans for next year.

Wendy! What a beautiful picture.
I so need to come for a visit, but the colors are probably over now; right? Thanks…as you know, David's gone. Halloween is his favorite. I took lots of pictures.
Boo-to you!

Wendy, thank you for the sacrifice you are making, and that of all military families. Holidays are especially hard, when we want to be making memories of times together. We can take lots of pictures of the little ones in costume to send to a far away parent. Thank you for taking our mind from the busy parts of the day and focusing us again on the very real sacrifices being made on our behalf.

I recently joined the Loving a soldier blogs. It has been a great site thus far. I am new to the military lifestyle. I am engaged to the love of my life 2 days after he proposed he got orders to Korea. Yes I know it is not in Irag or Afghanistan but it is still equally hard. He will miss all of our first holidays. We missed Halloween which is a fun time of the year for me but we will miss Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines day and even out first anniversary. At first I was really upset feeling jipped. But after some major thought I am ok with it. I know this is what he needs to do and we can look forward to all the years to come. We will eventually have all those times together and it will make it even better to be able to truely cherish those times. So I wanted to thank you for this blog. Have a great day.

Thanksgiving is my hubbie's favorite holiday and he's training to go to one of the sand pits when it comes around this year. Everytime I see something that I know he'll miss, I try to figure out a way to get it to him. Like the smell of the leaves on the ground or taping the Bears football games (which with the way their season's going, might be a bad idea). I'm sad that he'll miss this but I know we'll get more together with our baby girl :)

I am an Afghan girl. I only wanted to say being American soldier in Afghanistan has not been useless. Now we do not have compelete freedom but atleast I can go to school, I can walk on the streets without any fear, Today I am aware of my rights, and all these is because of America and american soliders.

Thank you to all Amercians
