Hello! I’m Mindy King, one of the new bloggers here. I’m excited about this opportunity to share a little bit of my experience and hope that you will enjoy reading a little about me. I’ve been an Army wife for a little over four years now, three of those years were as a dual military couple. My service included over six years as a Blackhawk crew chief with two deployments to Iraq, one as a door gunner and the second with the MEDEVAC, before being medically retired in January 2011. We found out at the same time we were expecting our first child. My little guy is now nine months old.
I work full-time from home for Pearl Interactive Network as a virtual administrative assistant, but also spend time volunteering as the FRG co-leader, with the National Military Family Association and Photos for Soldiers. I recently started classes for photography and enjoy taking pictures of everything, but nothing more than my son.
My husband is a Blackhawk crew chief in the MEDEVAC and the senior instructor for both the crew chiefs and flight medics in his unit. We are like most military couples in that most days we enjoy the military lifestyle, but from time to time there are those days…. He does an amazing job supporting me in all of my ventures.
Although I don’t look at myself as disabled, I’m classified as a disabled veteran due to a back injury and ongoing issues from a TBI. Additionally I have combat related PTSD, which as I’m sure many can relate, rears its ugly head from time to time. Nothing has helped more than having a husband who sees past all that and my son who doesn’t see anything other than his mommy.
I look forward to sharing more about me and my experiences as time goes on.
