Power Outage

This is my first time living in the Pacific Northwest and everyone warned me how much it rains here! What people did not warn me about was trees here couldn’t handle snow or ice! While we had lovely snow almost 11 inches, it was definitely a learning experience, as we did not have power for almost 5 days! We braved out three days before staying with my husband’s family.

While most people would complain as I saw on Facebook to the electric company, I actually enjoyed it! We had another soldier stay with us and what a blast we had! We hiked in the snow to visit other soldiers down the street and even played a game of Pictionary! I even learned that not everyone knows what a jigsaw puzzle is! I got to know these soldiers that work with my husband and honestly those memories are embedded into my memory. My husband and I still laugh over the game of Pictionary!

I can’t thank my husband’s family enough to take in both my husband and I, but also our brand new kitten. While I enjoyed the warmth, my husband was glad to watch football! It was hard returning to work without a shower and electricity, but I am so grateful for power. I never released the importance because on the east coast we can get 3 feet of snow and still have power! Most of all when I was cold and chattering never once did my husband say I have been in worse!
