Why is it every time my husband goes away, something MAJOR goes wrong? So back in December, we had a fire. He started a long list of pre-deployment trainings in January. While he was gone, I was having to deal with the house restoration people and getting our house back together. Yeah. It’s now September and it’s STILL NOT DONE! Even more irritating are other issues that have come up because of inadequate work.
We were living in a temporary apartment for 2 months. We moved back into our house just a few days before my husband left for NTC for a month. When we moved back in, the house still wasn’t near finished. We had no kitchen. Because of that we had boxes everywhere else in the house, making it unusable. After being back in the house for almost 2 months (the husband came home for a couple weeks and was gone again) we finally got our kitchen back. Since then, the house restoration people have been slow in responding to finishing up the work.
I don’t go into the basement very often, except for laundry and grabbing stuff from the stockpile. With it being just me, I am not running the dishwasher as often either. Now, a few days ago, I started a load of dishes in the dishwasher and then went to the basement. I noticed water leaking from where the dishwasher is into the basement. No wonder my dehumidifier is running like crazy. I think the garbage disposal is somehow linked up with that as well.
This morning I woke up – it was raining outside – but for the first time, we had a dag gone leak. It was coming down the ceiling fan that the house people installed. It was leaking onto my bed – making the unfolded laundry on the foot of the bed soaked and getting our solid wood foot board wet. It also was leaking above our solid wood new dresser and mirror getting them wet. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember them telling us that when they took out the old ceiling fan something happened and there was an issue making a bigger hole in the ceiling, so they had to repair our ceiling. Now, it’s leaking.
Between still dealing with the house issues, my car issues, etc. since my husband’s been gone, I’ve been super stressed. It never fails that something major happens while he’s gone. Thankfully, this is why I run. That and I’ve signed up for a number of races. I’m logging over 20 miles a week. My shoes that I just bought in April are worn out already.Time to start looking for shoe deals. I started doing the math and I’ve definitely put over 300 miles on these shoes – closer to 500-600 miles. It’s showing in ways other than my shoes.
I am losing weight and inches! The other day I did a 6.5 mile run in regular old school running shorts instead of my compression shorts (which I LOVE). For the first time ever I did NOT chafe! YEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I had a doctor’s appointment in June, I weighed in at 159 pounds. My latest weigh in – 149. Yes please, I’ll take that. As stressful as things are, I’m glad I can run out my stress. That and it’ll be good for my Army Ten Miler time.
