Tag Archives: family …and today Oklahoma has a big chunk of mine. As Army wives we can lead a nomadic existence, moving wherever and whenever duty calls, often far away from family and friends. When someone asks you where you’re from, what do you say? More often than not, for me, I cite my hometown of Oklahoma…  Quite often I get the following exclamatory statement from strangers I meet, “You have got to be from the South!” I grin, nod, and proudly admit with a natural twang that both my husband and I are from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. Needless to say, we stuck out at our first duty assignment as… Our FRG was successful because of go-getters like you! Thanks for being so awesome and such a great friend! Love you! We had the distinct honor to be part of the 2013 “Heroes at Home” Military Spouse of the Year event sponsored by The Flagship News which was held on May 9th in Virginia Beach, VA. The caliber of Military Spouse nominees was immeasurable due to the countless energy, dedication, and passion in which they serve… I love that we take time to celebrate our military children. As I watch my son grow up and recognize that daddy wears combat boots and a uniform, I think of the future talks we might have, the questions he might ask or how he might feel about our military lifestyle.
