This deployment is NOT my first rodeo. It is different in that my hubby and I are actually married this time – we were engaged the last deployment. Although each deployment is different for different reasons, certain things remain the same: the worry, the fear, the anxiety, the lack of sleep, etc. I just know…

1st – Congrats on the Army 10 Miler!!!! Your time is amazing!!
Sounds like hubby doesn’t get the mid-tour R&R? I’ve only been through one deployment…after 3 months he given R&R and then went back for the remaining 12 months of his deployment. This was back when soldiers had 15 mo. tours. It was horrible to go 12 months without each other. We were not able to skype back then either. just phonecalls and FB chat. It completely sucked. at night, I would read books to help me feel more sleepy…you could try that?
You might like the devotional book made for military families called “1 year, Yellow Ribbon” keep your chin up, no matter what! And remember his heart aches for you just as badly. You can do this!!!
Wow
I feel like I wrote this. I’m right there with you!
I totally understand!
I do not think I have ever opened an article on FB that was posted until now. I had dinner last week with a customer whose husband is a few months away from a tour in Afg. She mentioned that every where her husband goes people stop to thank him (which of course she thinks is wonderful) but nobody ever thanks her for all of the tme alone with their 3 boys ages 1 through 7……So Julie, THANK YOU for being the wife of one of these proud, strong, brave men, and for ALL you do for our country!
Thank you for sharing. That is it exactly, and even though you do your best, the middle of the night still kicks your butt. iD recommend a silly girls night of good chick flicks that he never wants to watch, and laughter. Love, a fellow army wife. Hang in there. He’ll be home soon
Wow Tom. Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m afraid I’m in the midst of a mid-deployment funk and feeling a little isolated. The tides will turn, they always do, but I appreciate the help getting over the hump!
Hang in there Julie!!
Let us know what you need Julie. Hang in there!!
