May is a month full of holidays and days of appreciation in the military community, as well as the Civilian world. In this month, we celebrate Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day and Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Of course we can’t forget Mother’s Day in all of this too! May is also the month when we begin to really feel the start of summer weather and the flowers begin to bloom. Although this year has been quite the exception to that and so much is already in bloom! April showers bring Mayflowers was a little off this year!
In this month we celebrate many people in our lives who have held important roles and who have touched our lives in some way. We celebrate and honor the members of our armed forces who serve to protect us each day, sacrificing time away from their families so that we can be with ours. We remember and thank those who have served in the past and those who have paid the ultimate price. We honor and thank the spouses of our servicemembers for the hard job they silently perform on the homefront, continuing life back home so that their spouse can do their job without worry. And we thank our Mother for the love and support she gave as we grew up, and continues to give us as an adult. We also remember the sacrifices our mothers made so that we could have the things we needed to thrive.
Without our servicemembers, without our military spouses and without our mothers, this world would be a very different, cold place. From the servicemembers providing us with safety to the military spouses putting strength behind the Soldiers and our mothers giving us soft places to land, they all deserve our thanks and heartfelt gratitude. So this May, be sure to take a moment and thank the members of our military for their service, a military spouse for their support and their sacrifices, and your mother for the love and guidance she has given you.
