For most of us military families, the holiday season usually means one thing: TRAVEL! One of the downsides of being in the military is that we tend to be geographically separated from our families, thus requiring some pretty lengthy road trips or airplane rides to be with the ones we love during the holidays.
Now that I’m a BIG two year old, Mommy and Daddy have to buy me a plane ticket when we fly. Well, after a few weeks of looking at airline tickets they came to the quick realization THAT wasn’t going to happen! Just for the three of us to fly home it was going to cost over $1500!! CRAZY! Therefore, we are going to attempt a ROAD TRIP! All I really care about is being at my Grammy’s house…even if it does mean lots of time in the car!
For those of you more seasoned travelers, can you please give us some tips? Have you ever stayed at the on-Post hotels while traveling? Was it worth it? What kinds of things do you take in the car to keep everyone happy and occupied? Thanks for your help…Mommy needs all she can get!!

First, I had no idea you wrote here. Second, I wrote about this a while ago but I even try to find on post hotels for cheap vacations. Like Destin for instance. They are worth the money I think. I have found the TLF's are nicer than the regular hotels. They have ovens and cookware and all that. But for a night it probably is unimportant. They are always clean for sure.
